Alex Bailey Obituary

Alex Arnaz Bailey was born on February 28, 1965, to Percy Bailey and Theresa N. Bailey at USAF Hospital located in Orlando, Florida. Both of whom preceded him in death.

Alex gave his life to Christ at an early age.

Alex attended Walton Elementary School in Jackson, Mississippi and later moved to Maywood, Illinois where he attended Irving Elementary School as well as Proviso East High School. Alex graduated from ITT Technical Institute (ITT Tech) in Carmel, Indiana where he received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.

Alex enlisted in the United States Army shortly after graduating high school, where he served his country faithfully, displayed integrity as well as honor. Alex received multiple prominent honors for his act of bravery, and exceptional skillset including the Good Conduct Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Army Lapel Button.

Alex was known as a board & card games expert in Chess, Monopoly, Dominos, and Spades. He might not have said much but he was always strategic with a smile on his face. He enjoyed his family, sports, seafood, and bike rides (depending on the day, long journeys). Of course, the need for speed with his fast car in his Ford Mustang GT and F-150 Lightning. He is remembered for his speedy take-offs.

Alex was not shy about working hard and getting his hands dirty. Alex devoted 33 years as a Maintenance Rail Technician at Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). Where he was known as being resolute and delivering excellence. He sometimes joked about retiring, but his enthusiasm for his role and colleagues gave him a reason to stay a little longer. Alex often shared stories about his experiences and expressed his deep affection for his CTA family.

Alex made his transition on September 18th, 2025. Preceding him in death is his paternal grandparents, the late Sellers Bailey and Sarah Bailey. His maternal grandmother Catherine Norman. Aunts, Jessie Mae Slaugter and Lillie Mae Houston.

Alex leaves to cherish his memories:

Stepmother, Rosie Bailey, siblings, Craig C. (Leneé) Bailey Sr., Tiffany Bailey, Terrick Bland, Timothy (Trente) Bailey, Tony (Debra) Bailey, and Catina Bailey. Two nephews, Craig C. Bailey II and Jeremy Bailey. Two nieces Ryaen Johnson and Destiny Bailey. One uncle, Sellers Thomas Bailey Jr. Two aunts, Doris Myrick Bailey and Dorothy Datilma. Further remembered by nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
