Angela Lanise Hunter was born on March 17, 1956, the only child of Edith and James Hunter in Tallassee, Alabama. Affectionately known as “Angie” by family and friends, she accepted Christ at an early age while attending Antioch Missionary Baptist Church on Chicago’s South Side. Her faith remained a cornerstone of her life, and she later became a member of Rock of Ages Baptist Church in Maywood, Illinois, where she remained until her passing.
Angie was a proud resident of Maywood since 1967. She attended Garfield Elementary School (Class of ’69) and Proviso East High School (Class of ’73). Throughout her professional life, Angie made a lasting impact at several organizations, including the Maywood Village Water Department, Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital, and PepsiAmericas Bottling Company. At each stop along her career journey, she formed meaningful and enduring friendships—both personally and professionally.
Angie loved unconditionally and was always there with a helping hand. Her radiant smile could light up any room, and she was truly the life of every party. She had a deep love for dancing, cooking, and spent many joyful years participating in bowling leagues. But above all, her greatest passion was her family—her love for them was steadfast and unwavering.
Angie is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Edith and James Hunter. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted daughter, Keya Henderson (Jarade), and her treasured grandson, Landen Henderson. She is also lovingly remembered by her lifelong sister-friends Sandra Henderson, Carolyn Hill, and Vanessa Badger, along with a host of extended family and dear friends who were touched by her warmth, kindness, and joyful spirit.
