Anthony Dushawn Hurdle, born on October 4, 1977, to Patricia Williams Hurdle and Harry Hurdle. He entered this world surrounded by deep love. His grandmother, Bertha Zinamon, was the first to hold him—embracing him tightly and showering him with affection, kisses, and warmth. She adored him so deeply that she never wanted to let him go, until the day she earned her wings. From the very beginning, it was clear that Anthony was a special child with a gentle and loving spirit.
Growing up, Anthony found joy in being surrounded by his siblings. He especially cherished the time he spent with his baby brother Woo, playing Nintendo for hours, sharing laughter, friendly competition and a bond that remained strong throughout his life. Family was always at the heart of who Anthony was.
Anthony attended McKinley Elementary School, Roosevelt Junior High School, and Proviso West High School, where his athletic talents quickly stood out. Known for his remarkable speed classmates wanted him on their team because of his speed, he was always the first pick for every team in grammar school. In high school, he excelled more as a running back and cornerback, earning multiple mentions in the Proviso Herald. His siblings proudly filled the stands—always cheering the loudest. He also became an accomplished wrestler, going downstate and winning numerous first place awards.
After graduation, Anthony began working for the cable company, now known as Xfinity, where he met many wonderful people. His warm personality, respectful nature, and easygoing charm left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.
One of Anthony’s greatest joys in life was becoming a father. He loved playing with his children, teasing them, taking them to the park, and enjoying special movie days together. They shared many fun competitions playing Contra and Super Mario Brothers. Later, Anthony began working for the United States Postal Service, where he gained many friends who became family to him.
Anthony was also known for his talents in the kitchen and at the grill. His love for cooking and creating delicious meals earned him the affectionate title of “Food King.” Whether offering a tasty dish, recommending a restaurant, or experimenting with a new recipe, Anthony always had something flavorful to share with family and USPS family.
He treasured spending time with his father, siblings, and friends—especially watching football and basketball, laughing, joking, shouting at the TV. Anthony also loved bowling with family and friends. Wherever he went, he brought joy, humor, and warmth and laughing at others gutter balls.
Anthony began taking steps to grow closer to God, guided by his mother’s reminders about the power of prayer. On February 21, 2026, Our Heavenly Father needed an Angel so he called him home.
Anthony was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
