Carla Wilson Obituary

On March 23, 2021, Carla “Gus” Wilson, earthly assignment was completed, she departed this life to return to her heavenly home after a valiant battles with sickness. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately received peace.

Carla made her entrance into this world as a scrappy little girl all of 6 pounds but a fighter non-the-less to the late Perry and Lillie B. Newsome-Hayse, on April 20th 1948; she departed this world with that same fighting spirit. She was immersed in the Christian community that would be her lifelong support from an early age. She was an acolyte for the Father at an early age and continued to teach the youth through adulthood.  As a child she attended the Hopewell Elementary Church School in Coldwater MS. She furthered on to the East Tate Junior High School and the Tate County High School both of Coldwater MS.  She is a graduate of Triton Community College with dual Degrees: as a Nursing Assistant, Office Software, and Office Procedure. She is a graduate of the First Business School of Chicago with a (MMR) Master of Marketing Research. Almada University with a degree in Computer Science, Minor in Business Admin. (Worked as a) Nurse Assistant at LaGrange Medical Center for 5 years;) As a Purchasing Agent at UIC Chicago 8 yrs) an Executive Assistant for HRDI Chicago, An Adm. Assistant, a Counsel, a Job Coach and a Computer Teacher for 12 yrs, at PLCCA Maywood. As you can see dirt didn’t grow under her feet.

She sponsors two children of Africa, and the Wounded Warriors Project, and a volunteer for CASA for abused children. Carla was blessed with a large and loving family. On September 21, 1973 she was united in Holy Matrimony to her fellow Christian Brother Rev. Sam Wilson, to that union they raised five children with patience and discipline. She taught them to read, write and solve complex equations, and often took them on family trips to her home town in the South. From the age of infantry, she dedicated her children to God and encouraged them to explore the beauty of knowing the Lord.

Carla was an educator at heart. She was soft-spoken, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem for you no matter how small or how large. She was known as the quiet lady with a big stick. In all walks of her life she will be dearly missed.
