Charles Ray Allen was born the first of eight children to Alex and Catherine Allen on July 14, 1949, in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Both parents and younger siblings, Alex Jr., Robert, James, Deborah, and Darryl, preceded hm in death.
Charles attended Crane High School in Chicago, Illinois and graduated in 1967.
Charles proudly served in the United States Air Force for four years, as a Morse Code Radio Operator.
He was employed at Materials Service Corporation, where he met Cynthia Patricia Peecher (who preceded him in death). They were united in Holy Matrimony on September 8, 1973. They were the proud parents of two children, David (who preceded him in death) and Terra. He retired from Materials Service Corporation in 2007. He began working at Precision Accounting in 2008 and retired in 2023.
Charles accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized into the Christian faith on July 1, 1984, uniting with the Broadview Missionary Baptist Church, under the pastorage of Reverend Clarence W. Hopson. He was an active participant, serving as a Sunday School Teacher, a Male Choir member, an Usher, the Church Treasurer, a member of the Deacon Board, and in many other capacities of the church, for over 20 years. After the death of his wife in 2006, he united with the Harvest Bible Chapel in 2007, where he worshiped until his homegoing.
Charles was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, brother in-law, uncle, cousin, grandfather (Grandpa) and friend.
Charles made his transition from his life to his eternal home on Saturday, December 7, 2024, while at home, in Maywood, Illinois.
Charles leaves to cherish his memories: his daughter, Terra (Jammie) Pringle; grandsons, Jamie, Justin, and Jaden Pringle; one brother, George (Vicki) Allen; sister, Arlette Allen; four godchildren, Juanita Livingston, Tiasha Stevenson, Samuel Capleton III, and Joshua Capleton; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
