Deneen Pia Shelton-Davis (1967 – 2026)

Deneen Pia Shelton-Davis, lovingly known as Pia, Neen, Neno and Nina to some, passed away peacefully at her residence in Wheaton, IL on June 30. She lived a life that was vibrant, humorous, committed, generous and full of heart. She was a ray of sunshine that brightened every room she entered, with a vibrantly colorful personality, a fine sense of humor, an abundance of love and consideration to give. 

She was born in Chicago in 1967 to Johnnie W. Shelton and Barbara A. Shelton; she was the only child of that union. She was baptised at an early age at Christian Love M. B. Church. As a child, she was jovial, caring, dependable and a great friend to many. She attended Immaculate Heart of Mary for one year before switching to Proviso East High School, where she was a cheerleader and ran on the track team. She would go on to spend a good share of her career at Loretto Hospital before spending the rest of her career excelling as a customer service representative.

During her time at Loretta Hospital, she met and began dating Kevin T. Davis, who would eventually become her husband. Their devoted, magnanimous, and god-ordained partnership resiliently spanned over 29 years. They faced life’s highs and lows together, loving each other through thick and thin—and most importantly, through sickness and health. Their matrimony was also fruitful as they were blessed early in their union with their child Kevin D. Davis. 

Deneen brought a total of two children into this world, Porsche K. Taylor (39) and Kevin D.

(28). Her firstborn was brought into this world with the help of Bruce Taylor. As a wife, she was fiercely loving and loyal, a mother who prized education and advocated for her children’s improvement. She made a profound impact and will be missed to an immeasurably degree by her children. Her boundless love, kindness, compassion, commitment, support, integrity and stunningly unwavering loyalty will never fade, be replaced nor forgotten. 

Deneen was a warm soul that knew how to have a good time; her energy was infectious. Being around family and friends was something she truly loved doing. She enjoyed going to comedy shows, playing card games with friends and family, dancing, going out to eat and getting drinks with her friends, going on walks, spending time with her kids and grandchildren, watching reruns of her favorite shows and movies, and more than anything being a mother and a wife. 

She was preceded by her grandparents, Willie and Dorothy Lee, Ben and Cornelia Shelton and a host of other family members she was close with. She was survived by her husband, Kevin T.; her children, Porsche and Kevin D.; her grandchildren, Zakiyah, Laiden and Kamden; and her siblings Catherine (Christopher), Aisha (Dillard), Kristen, Antoinece “Kadeesha”, Angelique “Angie” and Jacques; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends will be received at Wallace Broadview Funeral Home,   2020 W, Roosevelt Rd, Broadview, IL 60155 on Thursday, July 9, 2026 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM.

All are asked to meet Friday, July 10, 2026 at New Horizon Baptist Church, 1600 S 5th Ave, Maywood, IL 60153 for the wake beginning at 10:00 AM and the Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 AM, sharp. Internment at Forest Home Cemetery, Forest Park, IL immediately after the service.
