Elvera Young

Elvera was born on January 26, 1932, in West Point, Mississippi to Mary and Nelson Scott. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Emanuel Young, Sr. on November 22, 1954. 

Her parents led her to Christ at an early age and she embraced the spiritual life and was an active member of several churches throughout her life. She was a prayer warrior. 

Elvera attended and graduated from Mary Holmes College in West Point and was a licensed practical nurse upon graduating from nursing school.

She served in and was employed by numerous hospitals and nursing homes over the course of her career as a nurse and healthcare professional. 

Elvera was called home to be with our Lord on Thursday, January 21, 2021.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, loving daughter, and several loving family, extended family, and church family members. 

Elvera leaves to cherish her fond memories: two loving sons, Emanuel and Kirk; grandson, Christian; goddaughter, Alta; niece, Gwendolyn; grandniece, Myesha; and a nephew, cousins, many devoted relatives and  friends, and a large church family.
