Eula Triplett, affectionately known as Ms. Lou, was born in Helena Arkansas on November 6, 1919 to the late Scott Tanner and Mary L. Tanner. She was the third of nine children. Eula attended McMillian School in Greenwood Mississippi and one of her greatest accomplishments was supporting her family and siblings with her strong work ethic.
Eula was a hard worker and always looking for a better quality of life. She decided to move to Chicago by way of St. Louis and Cleveland with her two daughters Mary and Verlee from a previous marriage. She met and married Ed Triplett, inherited his two children Edmond Triplett and Lucy Ann Triplett and to this union they welcomed three sons, Jerry, Larry and Eli. Chicago brought an array of job opportunities for Eula, nursing assistant at Canaan Baptist Church Nursing Home, waitress and cook at Kedzie Carroll Restaurant and housekeeper at the Hoover Hotel.
Eula accepted Christ at an early age, she confessed to a Christian life at Greater Salem Baptist Church on the south side of Chicago. After moving to the west side of Chicago in 1961, Central Memorial Baptist Church became her church home where she served faith-fully as an usher and was a proud member of the willing workers board.
Eula loved dancing, traveling, cooking, family gatherings, holidays and her favorite, fish fry’s. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members. Her sense of humor, charm and smile could brighten a room at any given moment.
She is preceded in death by: Her husband, Ed Triplett; sons, Jerry Triplett and Larry Triplett; inherited son, Edmond Triplett; five brothers and two sisters.
She leaves to cherish: Two daughters, Mary Batteast and Verlee Austin; son, Eli Triplett (Swanee); inherited daughter, Lucy Ann Triplett; one sister, Rena Freeman; five grand-children, Trosey Batteast Jr, Monique Batteast, Bianca Triplett, Jerry Triplett Jr. and Larry Triplett Jr.; five inherited grandchildren, Patrick Triplett, Christopher Triplett, Camille Triplett, Cindy Triplett and Erica Triplett; seventeen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, including special friends and family, Mother Cebelle Smith, Rose Burns and niece, Shane Freeman.
