Fabian Gillespie Obituary

Fabian Gerard Gillespie (nickname – Shane) was born on March 3, 1980, to Adela & Clinton Gillespie. Fabian’s father, Clinton, preceded him in death.

Fabian attended grade school at St. John Lutheran School in Forest Park, IL, and Washington Elementary School in Maywood, IL. He attended Walther Lutheran High School in Melrose Park, IL, and completed his last year of High School at the American Job Corp.

Fabian joined the U.S. Army in the year 2000, serving a total of 11 years. During his years in the Military, Fabian fought in two wars. Operation Iraqi Freedom and Afghanistan War. While serving, he earned several medals. Fabian was a proud Veteran and war hero to the Nation.

In October 2008, Fabian united in holy matrimony to Tyra Watson and gained two loving stepchildren, Desa, and Devarion. They remained married for 7 years. Tyra & Fabian remained good friends until his death.

After the military, Fabian drove 18 wheeler trucks all across the country for several companies. He delivered food and products during tornadoes, blizzards, and even drove faithfully thru the trying times of the COVID epidemic when factories and restaurants were shut down. Fabian loved driving trucks early in the morning when the sun was starting to rise, listening to his favorite song by Reverend James Cleveland “God Is.” Fabian would text his family daily bragging and showing pictures of the different restaurants and places he would visit on his truck route. Fabian understood the joy of laughter at a young age. He was the comedian that ensured his family and friends never took themselves too seriously. In good times, he brought tons of laughter, and in sad times, he brought joy to many.

He leaves to mourn in his passing, his mother and stepfather, Carl and Adela Campbell; siblings, Clinton Demarco Gillespie, Carlos Williams, Tifair Gillespie-Hamed, and Jana Reeves (Jana preceded him in death); nieces, Imani Gillespie, and Haley Reeves; nephews, Jalen Reeves, Jeremiah Jones, Joseph Hamed, and Samuel Hamed; and a host of family and friends.
