Malik J. Johnson was born on December 22, 1996, to Passionate J. Johnson and Lee Johnson. Malik was adopted at the tender age of 4 months old, by his extended parents, Emily Johnson and Jerry Shade of Chicago, IL.
Malik was baptized at an early age at Crusader West under the leadership of Pastor Daryl O’Neal. Malik was apart of the Step Team and Dance Team, along with his cousins, Jamari, and Deja.
Malik attended early childhood development at Channings Daycare. He graduated from Key Scott and earned his High School Diploma from Frederick Douglass High School.
Malik currently worked at Hearth Food Solutions for 1 year, and was a Team Member of the Neighborhood Watch Program and worked various jobs, such as Solo Cup and Ron Staffing.
Malik was a vibrant person, with a loving heart, kind soul, a smile that could brighten up a room. Everyone loved being around and hanging out with Malik because he was the life of the party, always dancing, and making jokes was his specialty (although he couldn’t dance LOL). His daughter Riley was his everything. Being with her made him happy. Dressing up with his cool shoes, and stylish way of walking, made him stand out from the rest. Malik was crazy about his big brother, Jerry. He loved spending time with him and hanging with his brother, Quan, at their dad’s house.
Malik gained his wings on October 27, 2021. Flying high to be with his grandmother, Patricia A. Johnson; brother, Lashawn Smith; aunt, Cotina Lee; cousin, Jamari Shade, all of whom preceded him in death.
Malik leaves to cherish his heart, his one and only daughter, Ms. Riley Johnson; parents in his heart, Emily Johnson-Howard, Jerry Shade, Passionate (Chris) J. Johnson, and Lee Johnson; loving grandmother, Hanna (Chris) Johnson; two grandfathers, James Young, and William Lee; seven sisters, Shermesha Johnson, Shaleah Johnson, Dandrea Howard, Melanie Howard, and Tiffany Shade, Kimberly Johnson-Brown, and Valencia Johnson; three brothers, Joe Grissett, Jr., Daquan L. Johnson, and Jerry Shade, Jr.; seven aunts, Christine M. Johnson, Rhonda Johnson, Catherine Johnson, Delores Johnson, Annette Johnson, Romona Dunbar, and Debra Johnson; three uncles, Marcus Johnson, Gregory Johnson, and Keddrick Lee; special cousin, and DeJa Swint; a special person in his heart, Tionna Pickett (mother of his daughter); and a host of family and friends.
