Mary Esther Reed was born on August 21, 1948, to the union of Annie L. Pate Delaney and Connie Reed in Sidon, Mississippi. Mary was baptized and accepted Christ at an early age. She attended the Old Original Missionary Baptist Church where she became an ordained minister and she also served as a member of the church's choir. Mary later joined Breakthrough Word Harvest Ministries where she served as an evangelist and prophetess on the ministers' board.
Mary attended and graduated from John Marshall High School in Chicago. She also attended and graduated from St. Augustine College with an Early Childhood degree. Mary worked as a Manager at Marriott Hotel for many years before leaving to become a full-time mom, grandmother, and caregiver. Mary Ester Reed was a sweet loving woman of God who touched
the hearts of everyone she came in contact with. Mary would listen, give great advice, and pray for you and with you. Mary's favorite phrases and words were "Like That" and "Just Pray".
Mary Esther Reed departed this life on December 31, 2021.
Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Mother Annie L. Pate Delaney; her father, Connie Reed; her only son, Albert Reed; and her nephew, Richard Charles Gibson.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Yanece Henderson (Andre) of Kenosha, Wisconsin, and Summer Reed Hardin (Jefferson aka Jr.) of Chicago, Illinois; two sisters, Gertude Gibson of Broadview, Illinois, and Diane Delaney of Chicago, Illinois; one brother, Allen Delaney of Savannah, Georgia; five grandchildren: Alshaundria Deloris Michelle Reed, Kyreasion Connor (Angela), Paryiece Demetrius Gerome Reed (Allen), Samantha Sheree McDonald, and Brittany Henderson; four great- grandchildren, Syn'Claire Nicole Ester, Addison Connor, Luke Connor, and Samaya Namiko Ester; four nieces, Deidra Sutton (Mike), Deanna Delaney, Denisha Sutton, and Jasmine Sutton; three nephews, Deandre Daniels, Jason Bivens, and Josh Gibson; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, family, and friends.
