Mattie Green

Mrs. Mattie Jo Green was born on April 30, 1938, to Namon Atchison and Joelle House in Bells, Tennessee.

She departed her life on Thursday, March 18, 2021, at her home at 7:30 a.m.

Mattie Jo accepted Christ at an early age. She prayed faithfully every night for her loved ones.

Mattie Jo spent her early life in Tennessee. She went to Central High School and graduated in 1958.

Mattie Jo moved to Chicago and started her life. 

In 1988, she met Henry Green and was married in 1993 until his death in 2003.

She married her first husband in 1965 and to this union they were blessed with two daughters, Vickie and Melissa Santos.

Mattie Jo received a certificate in security at Malcolm X College. She enjoyed working as a monitor at Loyola University until she retired due to her health.

In heaven, Mattie Jo will join her parents, Namon Atchison and Joelle House; her sister, Maggie Thomas; her brother, Sam Mathis; her daughter, Melissa Santos; and her husband, Henry Green.

Mattie Jo leaves to cherish her loving memories, her lovely daughter, Vickie Santos; two grandchildren, Fantashia Collins, and Benson Santos; two great granddaughters, Marriona and Mariyah Cameron; five nieces, Brenda (Jerry) Ingram, Marsha (LT) Cole, Darlene (Chris) Johnson, Carla Thomas, and Shavon Mathis; one nephew, Michael Mathis; and a host of relatives and friends.
