Raymond Edward Tyson was born on August 24, 1952, in Alexander, Arkansas to the late Shirley and Alice Tyson.
Raymond moved to Maywood, IL, with his parents in 1959. He was affectionately called “Ray Baby” and “Tyson” by his friends. He attended Washington Elementary School and Proviso East High School in Maywood, IL. Tyson began working at an early age, assisting his father at Tyson’s Barbershop and Tyson’s Pool Halls.
Tyson never met a stranger and had a caring, kind, and generous spirit. He was a friend to all ages and greeted everyone with a smile. Tyson loved dogs and often bred pit bulls. Tyson worked several jobs including the U.S. Post Office. One day his Uncle Eddie “June” took him under his wings and taught him how to paint houses. Tyson loved to paint and became a skilled house painter. People from Chicago and surrounding suburbs called on Tyson to paint their homes.
Tyson was preceded in death by his parents, Shirley and Alice Tyson, and his father, Raymond Tyree. Tyson will be missed by many and leaves to cherish his memories, his three brothers, Donald, Ronald, and Raymond Jr. (Sherrie); one sister, Angela Tyree; who are all from Chicago, IL; two sons, Tiyon, and Malik; two grandsons, Tysean, and Taeveon; one aunt, Louise Askew of Dallas, TX; one uncle, Edward (Dorothy) Gaines of Grand Rapids, MI; a special brother, “Pete”; and a host of nieces, nephews, special cousins, relatives, and friends.
