Reginald Pope, affectionately known as “Reggie” was born September 10,1956, in Chicago, IL. to M.C. and Minnie Bell Pope. Reginald was the fifth child of eight children and the father to four sons. He was baptized at a very young age at Stone Temple Baptist Church. He attended Nathaniel Pope Elementary School, and John Spry Community School for his elementary education before taking classes at Carter H. Harrison High School and then enrolling in trade school.
Reginald worked as a maintenance engineer for the Chicago Police Department for many years before accepting a position at Republic Windows and Doors.
Reginald was known for his impeccable and stylish manner of dress. And oh, how he loved that blue and white Park Avenue. He liked watching old Western movies, listening to old school music and stepping. Reginald commanded attention in the room with his smooth steps and tall stature.
Reginald was known for his kind heart and devotion to his family. He loved family gatherings and would always find a moment to step in the name of love. When he wasn’t cracking jokes and laughing with family and friends, he kept things clean and in order. The moment anything was empty he would say, “give me that” and proceeded to the garbage can.
Reginald (Reggie) Pope, “the music man” made his earthly transition, February 1, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents M.C. and Minnie; his brother Willie (Bill); sister Sabrina; brother-in-law Fred and three grandchildren: Parish, Samuel, and Jermaine.
Reginald leaves to cherish his memories, his sons: Darrance Head, Cecil Arnold (Brandi), Cornelius Turner, Parish Arnold; two sisters: Clemerstean Wheat, Suzette Pendleton (Michael); three brothers: Michael Pope (Essie), Laurell Pope (Janet), Triandos Pope (Lisa); sister-in-law Adrienne; goddaughter NiEsha; fifteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Reginald will be truly missed. We hope you are dancing in heaven, free and joyous, surrounded by eternal light and love.
