Ruth E. Folks was born on March 2, 1936, in Montgomery, Alabama to Willie and Maddie Lover Wilson. Ruth was the oldest of four children.
Ruth accepted Christ at an early age, after relocating to Chicago, IL in 1969; she began her fellowship at Shining Star Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Wormley. Later, she transitioned her membership to New Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Mentor with over 40 years of faithful service. Singing beautiful praises in the choir and serving on the Mother’s board, mentoring young women throughout the church.
Ruth attended Sovelist High School, in Montgomery, Alabama and later became a licensed dietitian. While earning her dietitian certificate, Ruth was introduced to her late husband by her lifelong friend Stella, which led to Ruth relocating to Chicago.
Ruth was the glue that held the family together; with her strength and love for God. Always with a huge heart and open door; never turning her back or closing her door on anyone.
