Salena A. Hill was born to Thelma Jean Hill-Barnett and the late William Barnett on May 26, 1967, in Chicago, IL.
Salena was baptized and a faithful member of The First Baptist Congregational Church.
Salena experienced her first health setback in the 8th grade. She was home-schooled until she was able to attend Spalding High School (a public school for disabled students). Salena excelled in high school, attending gifted student classes. She was her class salutatorian. Salena attended Harold Washington College and graduated with a degree in Accounting.
Salena’s career with the Federal government started with a high school work study program. She worked in various agencies until illness forced her to early retirement as an Accounting Technician in the DEA office under the Department of Justice in Spring of 2020.
Salena loved to sing and enjoyed many genres of music. She was often teased that she could win big money on Name That Tune. If you told Salena “I love you”, her response was always “I love you more.”
Salena was born into Eternity on January 12, 2022.
She is preceded in death by her father, William Barnett; and her brothers, Dwayne and John Hill (Rose).
Salena leaves to cherish her loving memories, her mother, Thelma Jean Hill-Barnett; siblings, Michael Hill, Margaret Tyson (James), Yolanda Hill, April Hill, William Hill (Ramona), Alesha Conwell, Charmain Terry, Tommy Barnett, and Omarion Anderson. Salena did not have any children, but she was a phenomenal auntie to the following nieces and nephews: Arnita, Leisl, Orissa, Elijah, Alexa, Candace, Devonya, Kristen, Reva, Diamond, Alaysia, Kamron, Zion, Howard, Michael, Dashia, Dashaun, Travena, Devaan, Chloe, Aiden, Daniel, and Talia.
Salena also leaves to cherish her loving memories, her remarkable Aunt Gloria Barnes (deceased Uncle Horace), and Aunt Anita and Uncle Jesse Martin, who were role models on how to be a great mentor to her nieces and nephews.
Last but not least, Salena leaves to cherish her loving memories, her dear friends, Kenny Coleman, Kenny Smith, and Swahili Brooks; and a host of other relatives and friends.
