Steve Wiggins Obituary

Steve Wiggins, a beloved brother, uncle, husband, bonus father and grandfather was born into life on January 1, 1959, to Mary and Robert Wiggins. Steve was the youngest of three children. Born in Chicago, Illinois, he met and married Ava Maxey on June 23, 2002.

Steve practiced Catholicism during his early life, regularly attending services at Holy Angels Church. As an adult, Steve attended God's House of Prayer under the leadership of Pastor Robert Durr.

Steve attended Holy Angels Catholic School and graduated from Simeon Vocational Academy.  After graduating, Steve enlisted in the United States Army in July of 1978. During his time in the Army Steve received multiple Letters of Commendation praising his professionalism, efficacy, and readiness. In addition to these Letters of Commendation, Steve was awarded an Expert Marksman certificate, a Good Conduct Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, and the Overseas Service Ribbon.  Steve successfully attained the rank of Sergeant before his Honorable Discharge in October 1986.

After his Army discharge, Steve worked as a Truck Driver proudly delivering America's goods.  Steve took driving trucks seriously, so serious that it was not unusual for him to convince the employees of the businesses he delivered to accept deliveries a day earlier than scheduled.

Steve passed this life on November 10, 2024, after a short illness.

Steve was preceded in death by his father Robert, his mother Mary, aunts and uncles Dot, Pearl, Annie, Frank, Johnny, Henry, Cornelius, Bill, and Sam.

To cherish his memories, Steve leaves his loving wife Ava, daughter Rosalind Scott, granddaughter Ava Christine Scott; sister Cynthia Wiggins-Sarles (Jeff), brother Robert Wiggins, Jr. (Sharon); niece Shanika Monique Wiggins, nephew Chris Wiggins; great-nephew Malcom Wiggins; uncles Jerome and Bob Holmes; and a host of family and friends.
